About The Ursa Minors

In November 2023, the Westchester Amateur Astronomers created

Ursa Minors, the clubs youth division. It is a special subdivision of WAA that creates outreach and programming to astronomy enthusiasts under 25 years of age. The goal of the Ursa

Minors is to bring eyes to eyepieces and ignite people's passions

in astronomy. Our programs target ages 8 to 25.

The Ursa Minors is America's first and only youth astronomy club,

but it won't be the last.

We are a not-for-profit organization open to people of all ages with the desire to learn more about astronomy and who share an interest in viewing the universe. We range from enthusiastic amateurs and educators to casual stargazers and families. WAA strives to provide everybody access to astronomy. This includes young people, and through Ursa Minors WAA is taking an initiative to get more young people interested in astronomy.
